Extraordinary examination session:

The assessment criteria for the standard examination period shall be as follows:

30% of the final mark:

• Completion of the practical work.

• Written tests related to the subject matter.

• Solving practical case studies in groups.

• Solving practical case studies individually.

60% of the final mark:

• Final written theoretical and/or practical examination. Multiple-choice and/or essay-style questions.

10% of the final mark:

• The lecturer will assess the interest shown by the student; the level of participation in the various

scheduled activities and tasks; good behaviour (punctuality, courtesy towards the lecturer and

fellow students, willingness to learn, etc.); and respect for the opinions of other

classmates.

In the resit session, the final theoretical/practical examination will account for 100% of the mark.

Assessment system and criteria

Without prejudice to any other requirements that may be specified in the relevant course syllabus, as a general rule, failure to attend more than 70 per cent of the course’s teaching activities—which require the student’s physical or virtual presence—will result in the loss of the right to continuous assessment during the standard examination period. In this case, the examination to be held during the official period set by the University will be the sole assessment criterion, with the weighting specified in the course syllabus.

Description of the content

The content of the assignment to be completed will be based on the exploration of a legal topic of sufficient complexity and will have been agreed upon with the student’s supervisor. This dissertation must be as close to real-world practice as possible; it must be original, not merely bibliographical in nature, designed so that the time invested by the student corresponds to 6 ECTS credits, and distinct from any other dissertation(s) the student has previously undertaken and which have already been academically assessed. The final dissertation submitted must be defended before an examination board and must demonstrate that the student has acquired the general and specific competences of the degree programme. In all cases, the Final-Year Project must demonstrate that students have acquired the general competences of the degree programme within the framework of the knowledge, techniques and practical tools necessary to achieve the objectives set out at the start of the project, always from a cross-disciplinary perspective. In carrying out this project, students must acquire skills relating to the research, analysis and organisation of documentation, and to the appropriate communication of their work. The results should enable the student to develop an open-minded and self-directed approach to new legal issues and realities, new legislation, as well as new socio-legal concerns and perspectives. The assignment to be submitted by the student shall have the following structure: Introduction, setting out the methodology, objectives and current state of research. Main Body, which shall adhere to methodological criteria regarding citations, critical apparatus, etc. Conclusions, which shall be numbered and presented clearly. Table of Contents: this must be comprehensive and clear. Sources and Bibliography: these must be organised separately into categories such as general textbooks, monographs and specific studies, legislation and case law.
