Our Biomedicine students have at their disposal in our state-of-the-art BioLabs facilities for training, equipped with the most advanced technology used in clinical laboratories and international biomedical research centres.

  • Inverted and fluorescence microscopes, for the study of cell cultures and the visualisation of cell structures in real time.
  • Biosafety, gas extraction and laminar flow cabinets, which guarantee a sterile and safe environment for handling biological samples and chemical products.
  • Multifunction PCR equipment, spectrophotometers, microplate readers and electrotransfer systems, essential for identifying, amplifying and analysing genetic material, quantifying biomolecules and applying techniques such as PCR and Western Blot, key in molecular diagnostics and personalised medicine.
  • Highly sensitive molecular analysis systems such as Qubit, which allow precise measurements even in minute concentrations, essential in advanced clinical research.

Each internship becomes a real experience, working with the same instrumentation and protocols as in hospitals and biomedical reference laboratories.

Head of Studies

PhD in Biomedicine cum laude, with more than eight years of experience in biomedical research. She is head of studies for the Bachelor's Degree in Biomedicine at UAX Mare Nostrum and holds master's degrees in Translational Biomedical Research and Clinical Trials. Her research work has focused on microbial resistance at IMIBIC, with stays in international reference centres such as the Institute of Infectious Diseases in Jena (Germany). She has participated in five competitive projects, published thirteen articles in JCR-indexed journals and presented 32 communications at conferences. He has teaching experience in undergraduate programmes in the Faculties of Science and Medicine.

Miguel Marcos Herrero

Doctor

Specialist in Internal Medicine and Family and Community Medicine, with a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Malaga. Head of the Internal Medicine Department and Medical Director at Hospital Quirónsalud Málaga, with experience in primary care, emergency and referral hospitals. He has developed clinical research in internal medicine, infectious diseases and clinical trials, holds two official masters degrees and is studying Clinical Psychoneuroimmunology. He combines clinical care, health management, research and teaching, as well as collaborating with the Unicaja Málaga basketball team.

Honorary collaborating professor at the University of Malaga and senior researcher at IBIMA, he leads the BE-23 group and has participated in more than 130 clinical trials on innovative cancer therapies.
