Málaga is preparing to host one of the most eagerly awaited sporting and entertainment events of the year on 29 November: the Partidazo de los Youtubers 2025, organised by the streamer DjMaRiiO at La Rosaleda stadium. For this sixth edition, Alfonso X el Sabio Mare Nostrum University will take on the role of Official Physiotherapy Team for the event. As such, some of the most influential content creators on the Spanish scene – including IllooJuan, TheGrefg, Shelao, Plex, XBuyer Team, Adri Contreras, Coscu and DjMaRiiO himself, will receive both preventative and recovery support from students at the Malaga-based university.
The physiotherapy team will consist of four students from the Master’s in Physiotherapy, one from the Bachelor’s in Physiotherapy and one from the dual Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy and Sport. The UAX students will be responsible for providing care to the two teams, the Spanish and Latin American teams, who will be competing for victory in the latest edition of the Partidazo de los Youtubers 2025, which is set to attract more than 35,000 spectators at the venue and generate significant online coverage.
“This is a unique opportunity for the students, who will be able to enjoy an unforgettable experience during the competition, a real-world setting in which they will apply all the skills and knowledge they have learnt in the classroom in a professional environment, ” says Mario Barbara, lecturer on the UAX Mare Nostrum Master’s in Sports Physiotherapy and physiotherapist for Unicaja Baloncesto.
Alicia Salas, Head of Studies for the Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy and Sports Science, has an important message for the athletes preparing for the match: “It is important that all participants carry out a thorough and progressive warm-up, stay properly hydrated and report any discomfort to the medical team. Our aim is to ensure that the YouTubers can enjoy the match safely and minimise the risk of injury as much as possible; to this end, their existing fitness levels are also important, although I believe that many of them are regular exercisers and this will certainly help ensure that everything goes smoothly.”
Through this initiative, the Master’s in Sports Physiotherapy and the Bachelor’s in Physiotherapy at UAX in Málaga are promoting experiential learning and strengthening students’ direct contact with the professional world. At the same time, through this collaboration, UAX reaffirms its commitment to innovative education that is fully connected to the realities of the workplace, aimed at preparing professionals to lead their sectors and make a positive impact on society.
From the campus to the stadium
UAX Mare Nostrum will strengthen its presence in the Andalusian city two days before the 2025 Youtubers’ Big Match by holding an Open Day on its campus (Cam. de la Térmica, 90), an event where participants can explore career paths, meet the academic team, discuss their queries with expert advisers, and understand how today’s students are studying for careers with a future, a sense of purpose and a direct link to the labour market.
As well as exploring the academic programmes on offer, attendees will be able to find out how the team representing UAX Mare Nostrum at the 2025 Partidazo de los Youtubers is being put together and take part in practical demonstrations of injury prevention, functional bandaging and basic muscle activation techniques. To round off the event, those who take part in the Open Day will be entered into a prize draw for tickets to attend the 2025 Youtubers’ Big Match – a unique opportunity to enjoy the spectacle from the stands.
