What are the work placements like on the Business Administration and Management degree programme?
Work placements are a fundamental and compulsory part of our curriculum. In the fourth year of the Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (both online and on-campus), you will undertake your curricular and extracurricular work placements, the remuneration for which will depend on the type of placement and the agreement with the company, totalling 300 hours, and worth 12 ECTS credits, which will immerse you fully in the professional environment.
These work placements will enable you to:
- Apply your knowledge: you will put everything you have learnt in the classroom into practice in a real professional environment.
- Develop new skills: you will acquire technical and soft skills that will be of great use to you in your future career.
- Expand your professional network: you’ll meet industry professionals who can guide and support you in your career.
- Improve your employability: work placements are an excellent way to showcase your skills and, as a fundamental part of our curriculum, contribute significantly to the high employability rate of our graduates.

Real-world projects with companies
One of the hallmarks of our Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management is the integration of real-world projects into the curriculum, brought to life through the innovative initiative UAX Makers .
This methodology is based on the principle of ‘learning by doing’ , where the link with the professional world goes far beyond traditional work placements. Leading companies and institutions, ranging from technology consultancies to embassies, set real-world, up-to-date business challenges for our students, who work in multidisciplinary teams to compete in developing the most innovative solution.
This immersive experience not only allows you to apply your knowledge of finance, marketing or strategy in real time, but is also designed to help you develop the most sought-after key skills: teamwork, complex problem-solving and effective communication. It is the embodiment of professional experience, integrated at the very heart of the curriculum.
Below, we present some examples of the projects in which our students have taken part.
Arctic Challenge: an initiative in partnership with the Canadian Embassy
In collaboration with the Canadian Embassy, our students from the Business Administration and Management, Marketing, Law and Business Analytics programmes took part in the ‘Arctic Challenge’. The aim of this multidisciplinary project was to design a social media campaign for the Embassy that would highlight the importance of Arctic issues. Through this initiative, students not only had the opportunity to work on a real-world marketing and communications case study, but were also able to gain a deeper understanding of a highly topical issue of significant geopolitical relevance.
GSK: a roadmap for the implementation of healthcare products
Students from Business Administration, Biotechnology, Marketing and Law collaborated with the British multinational pharmaceutical company GSK to create a roadmap enabling start-ups to introduce a product bearing the CE (European Conformity) mark into Spanish hospitals. This project enabled students to delve into the complex world of medical device regulation and develop an innovative solution to a real-world challenge facing the sector.
UNE 9001: the launch of a pioneering certification
In partnership with Orbaneja Abogados, our students studying Pharmacy, Law and Business Administration took part in the launch of UNE 9001: Certification of Readiness for the Transfer of Pharmacy Practices. This project gave them the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into how the pharmaceutical sector operates and to take part in the creation and dissemination of a new quality standard.
Digital Twin with Avanade (Microsoft)
Imagine being able to manage an entire university campus – from energy efficiency to student flow – using a virtual model identical to the real one. That is the concept behind the Digital Twin, and our Business Administration students have not only learnt the theory but have also put it into practice.
In collaboration with Avanade, Microsoft’s global technology consultancy, they have taken part in the development of a virtual replica of the Villanueva de la Cañada campus. This pioneering project has enabled them to gain first-hand insight into how data analytics, the IoT and asset management combine to enable smarter and more efficient strategic decision-making – a skill that places them at the forefront of modern business management.
Artificial Intelligence with CaixaBank
The banking sector is undergoing a digital transformation, and AI is one of the key drivers. Our students had the opportunity to work side by side with CaixaBank, one of Europe’s leading financial institutions, on an exciting challenge: applying Artificial Intelligence to automate and optimise customer operations. This project presented them not only with a technical challenge, but also a strategic one: how to improve the customer experience and the bank’s efficiency without losing the human touch? An experience that has given them invaluable inside insight into the future of banking.
