Alfonso X el Sabio University (UAX) has joined Forética, Spain’s leading organisation in sustainability and corporate social responsibility, with the aim of continuing to drive forward its ESG strategy. Furthermore, the university aims to consolidate its commitment, through its own university model, to training talent in line with current environmental, social and governance challenges.

In doing so, UAX is joining one of the leading networks in the field of corporate sustainability, comprising companies, institutions and organisations that work together to promote responsible practices, sustainable innovation and the integration of environmental, social and governance criteria into decision-making.

This membership forms part of UAX’s ESG strategy, which views sustainability as a cross-cutting pillar of its educational model and its relationship with society. This commitment is reflected in the training of professionals equipped to thrive in an environment characterised by technological innovation, critical thinking and the need to develop solutions capable of generating a positive and lasting impact. This commitment has recently been recognised by the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings, the international ranking that assesses universities’ contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). UAX ranks amongst the top ten Spanish private universities across five SDGs – Good Health and Well-being, Quality Education, Gender Equality, Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Sustainable Cities and Communities – and ranks second in the Sustainable Cities and Communities category.

“Sustainability is a fundamental part of UAX’s academic model. Our aim is to train professionals who are prepared to tackle the major challenges of the future through innovation, responsibility and a positive impact on society. Joining Forética enables us to strengthen our links with the business community and continue to make progress in the genuine integration of ESG criteria into university education, ” says Domingo Mirón, CEO of the UAX Group.

“We welcome UAX’s membership of Forética, a partnership that strengthens the link between higher education and the business community at a crucial moment for sustainability. Training professionals capable of integrating ESG criteria into decision-making is essential for accelerating a responsible, competitive business transformation that has a positive impact,” emphasises Germán Granda, managing director of Forética.

A partnership to promote sustainable education

The partnership between UAX, which integrates sustainability into the whole of its students’ academic experience, and Forética strengthens the connection between higher education and the business ecosystem at a time of growing demand for professionals capable of combining technical knowledge with skills linked to sustainability, innovation and responsible management.

Joining this network will enable UAX to gain first-hand insight into the trends, challenges and best practices that are shaping the sustainable transformation of organisations. This knowledge will help to further adapt university education to the needs of the labour market and bring students closer to the real challenges faced by companies in areas such as decarbonisation, the circular economy, diversity, inclusion, social impact and good governance.

Furthermore, the partnership strengthens UAX’s close collaboration with the business community and fosters the creation of spaces for exchange, learning and knowledge transfer. The aim is to train professionals capable of integrating sustainability into decision-making and of leading the transformation of their respective sectors from an ethical, responsible and resource-efficient perspective. All of this is designed to turn them into the future leaders of a sustainable transition that requires knowledge, innovation and leadership skills.
