Alfonso X el Sabio University (UAX) is further strengthening its legal department by signing a new partnership agreement with the international law firm Cremades & Calvo-Sotelo. This strategic partnership aims to provide practical learning and real-world experience, bringing students closer to the practical aspects of the legal profession from the very start of their university studies. This agreement follows on from other existing partnerships with prestigious law firms such as Montero Aramburu & Gómez-Villares Atencia (MA GVA) and Pérez-Llorca, reaffirming UAX’s commitment to providing up-to-date education that is aligned with the professional demands of businesses.

Strategic partnerships that foster talent

The agreement with Cremades & Calvo-Sotelo establishes a long-term framework for collaboration aimed at developing joint projects in education, innovation and research. The initiative focuses on employability and talent development, providing UAX students with their first real-world exposure to the professional environment through work placements and practical experiences. This partnership also involves the firm’s professionals taking part in masterclasses, teaching activities and careers fairs, as well as their involvement in the design and updating of degree programmes and curricula tailored to the real demands of the legal sector.

In this way, and through the UAXmakers educational model, the agreement will enable students to tackle real-world challenges set by the firm itself and to participate in innovation projects on campus, thereby reinforcing practice-based learning.

The UAX Faculty of Business & Tech notes that “the new generations of legal professionals need more than just a command of the law. They must know how to interpret the context, anticipate changes and work to the same high standards as they will in a law firm, a company or an institution. “This agreement with Cremades & Calvo-Sotelo enables us to bring that professional perspective into the classroom and strengthen an educational ecosystem in which the university and the legal sector move forward together to prepare graduates capable of adding value right from the start of their careers.”

“For Cremades & Calvo-Sotelo, this partnership with Alfonso X el Sabio University represents a further step in our commitment to training future legal professionals. We are committed to education that is connected to the realities of professional practice and to the development of a genuine law school, where academic excellence, innovation and practical experience from the very outset form the basis for training the professionals of the future,” the firm stated.

UAX also reinforces this distinctive learning model through other agreements with leading firms such as Montero Aramburu & Gómez-Villares Atencia (MA GVA), which offers internship places with professional mentoring and academic support for both curricular and extracurricular activities. These activities guarantee a real, assessable learning experience aligned with the competencies set out in the curriculum, ensuring that UAX students participate in activities of real value within the professional legal environment.

Furthermore, collaboration with law firms drives the development of joint innovation and research projects, as well as participation in conferences and specialist publications, fostering the exchange of knowledge between the academic and professional spheres.

Cutting-edge legal education with an international outlook

UAX stands out for its innovative educational programmes, such as the application of Business & Tech to Law, based on ‘enhanced’ degree programmes that combine a solid legal foundation with key skills in legal tech and project management. For example, it offers the Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management + Law, which includes the Professional Data Analyst Certificate by IBM, and the Bachelor’s Degree in Law, which incorporates the Certificate in LegalTech and the Cloud Computing Law Certificate. The UAX model is also characterised by 70 per cent of teaching being complemented by professional experience in the sector, 30 per cent of teaching being delivered in English, and the inclusion of work placements from the first year onwards, providing students with an educational experience that is connected to the realities of the job market and geared towards employability.

This commitment to academic excellence also extends to postgraduate programmes. The Master’s Degree in Law and Legal Practice, developed in collaboration with the law firm Pérez-Llorca, is recognised as a benchmark in the sector thanks to its innovative approach to Artificial Intelligence applied to law and its results, with a 100 per cent pass rate in the official bar exam. Also of note is the ‘Advanced Programme in AI for Lawyers’, run in collaboration with LEFEBVRE.

The international dimension reinforces this model through initiatives that broaden students’ horizons and link their education to the key challenges of the global landscape.

In this context, students from the Law, Governance and International Studies programme have taken part for the fourth consecutive year in the National Model United Nations (NMUN) in New York, a prestigious United Nations simulation. UAX has thus established itself as the only university in Madrid to take part in this competition and one of the few Spanish institutions to do so. An experience in diplomacy and real-world negotiation with real-world impact, in which students put into practice key ‘power skills’—such as communication, negotiation, leadership and public speaking—developed throughout their studies, which today make all the difference.

Furthermore, their education is complemented by high-profile events held on campus featuring international institutional figures, bringing students closer to diplomatic practice and the management of complex global contexts. With this comprehensive approach, based on partnerships, real-world practice, innovation, continuous activity and international outreach, UAX is consolidating a model in which students not only learn law, but also practise it, apply it and put it into action in real professional settings.

UAX, a strategic partner for the legal sector

Through all these partnerships, UAX positions itself as a strategic training partner for companies and law firms, driving the development of young talent by promoting bespoke in-company training for professionals at partner firms. Furthermore, the agreements incorporate a social commitment component, promoting values of ethics, good governance and regulatory compliance.
