The graduate profile is a physiotherapy professional with specialised postgraduate training in the field of sport: able to achieve prevention by knowing the athlete and the sporting speciality, able to detect the possible injury by carrying out a comprehensive assessment, able to treat the injury with the appropriate techniques to obtain optimal results and able, in order to prevent recurrence, to carry out the readaptation of the injury to the specific sport.
In this sense, its specialised nature differentiates it from a graduate, insofar as it focuses on working with professional athletes and/or sports amateurs, which allows it to master in greater depth, the assessment and treatment of injuries produced by physical activity and sport, as well as to apply specific methods for the treatment and prevention of sports injuries, taking into account the necessary rapid and safe recovery of the sports patient, as well as the optimisation of their performance and the prevention of future injuries.
They are also able to interact with the sports community and the psychosocial environment of the sportsperson, have the ability to work in integration with the rest of the professionals in the sports environment and are able to critically evaluate their practice in relation to new information, designing and developing projects in the field of physical activity and sport physiotherapy.
