Máster en Medicina del Deporte

The Master is aimed at doctors and residents of all medical specialties, especially doctors and residents in Traumatology, Cardiology and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

1. General practitioners:
   General practitioners who wish to specialise in sports medicine.
   
2. Sports Doctors:
   Doctors who are already working in the sports field and are looking to update and deepen their knowledge.

This programme is designed for those who wish to be at the forefront of sports medicine, acquiring advanced knowledge and practical skills to meet the challenges of athlete healthcare in an increasingly demanding and competitive environment.

1. Multidisciplinary skills: Graduates of this master's degree in Sports Medicine acquire multidisciplinary skills by specialising in areas such as sports cardiology, sports traumatology, health and wellness or regenerative medicine together with the management of medical teams in sports competitions. This allows them to approach the challenges of this very specific area from different perspectives, which guarantees your ability to offer comprehensive solutions to athletes and their clubs or federations.
   
2. Ability to lead medical teams: Graduates develop skills to lead medical teams in sport and competition environments. These skills include effective management of human resources, coordination of medical actions and decision-making in high-pressure situations.
   
3. Up-to-date and specialised knowledge: By studying this master's degree, graduates keep abreast of the latest developments and trends in sports medicine. This allows them to apply up-to-date and specialised knowledge in their professional practice, guaranteeing a high level of quality in the medical care they provide.
   
4. Practical and technical skills: With a 100% hands-on approach, they develop technical and practical skills that are directly applicable in their daily work. These skills include medical assessment techniques, diagnosis and treatment of sports injuries, as well as the application of preventive and rehabilitative measures.
   
5. Ability to adapt to different contexts: Thanks to the diversity of specialisations offered in the master's degree, they develop the ability to adapt to different contexts and needs. This enables them to work in a variety of sporting environments, from local sports clubs to international competitions, and in different roles, such as team physicians, consultants or researchers.

The classes in this programme combine online theoretical training, designed to offer you the necessary flexibility and allow you to advance your professional career while you specialise, with high-level face-to-face practical experience.

In addition, the programme includes 5 face-to-face weekends distributed throughout the course - Fridays from 15:00 to 20:00 h and Saturdays from 9:00 to 14:00 h and from 15:00 to 20:00 h - at the Villanueva de la Cañada campus. During these sessions, students have access to our Virtual Simulation Hospital and first-class facilities, designed to reproduce real clinical and sports environments and enhance hands-on learning.

As for the optional internships, they will be carried out face-to-face in reference clubs and clinics assigned to each expert.

• Araceli Boraita: Doctor of Medicine, specialist in Cardiology and Sports Medicine. She was head of the Cardiology Service of the Sports Medicine Centre (CSD) for more than 30 years, responsible for the cardiovascular assessment of Olympic athletes and founder of the Sports Cardiology Group of the SEC.
• Mª Dolores Masía: Cardiologist, head of the Sports Cardiology Unit at HLA Vistahermosa. Coordinator of the SEC Sports Cardiology Group, with extensive experience in stress tests and evaluation of elite athletes.
• Leonel Díaz: Cardiologist at Hospital La Paz and expert in cardiac imaging. Member of the SEC Sports Cardiology Group, researcher in cardiac remodelling in athletes and prevention of sudden death.
• Zoraida Moreno Weidmann: Cardiologist at Hospital Sant Pau (Barcelona), specialist in arrhythmias and electrophysiology. She participates in European projects on atrial fibrillation and cardiovascular safety in sport.
• Alejandro de la Rosa: Head of Cardiology at Hospiten Rambla (Tenerife), Doctor of Medicine with research on cardiovascular adaptations in athletes. Former secretary of the SEC Sports Cardiology Group.
• Uxua Idiazabal: Cardiologist at the Navarra Hospital Complex, PhD from the UPNA with a thesis on cardiovascular screening in young athletes. Member of the SEC Sports Cardiology Group.
• Silvia Ventura Haro: Cardiologist at the General Hospital of Castellón, specialist in cardiac imaging and ergo-spirometry applied to sport. Associate lecturer at the Universitat Jaume I.
• Amelia Carro: Doctor of Medicine, specialist in Cardiology and national coordinator of the Sports Cardiology Group (SEC). Founder of the Corvilud Institute, expert in cardiovascular prevention and sports health.
• Isabel López Ruiz: Doctor in Sports Science, researcher in physical exercise and cardiovascular pathology. National Award for her thesis on hypertension and personalised training.
• Juan Ramón Heredia: Doctor in Sport and Health Sciences, professor at UAX and director of the UAX-Rafa Nadal Master's Degree in High Performance and Health. Expert in training and injury prevention, with more than 40 scientific publications.

• Guillermo Álvarez Rey: Graduate in Medicine (UMA), specialist in Sports Medicine and Master in Sports Traumatology (UCAM). Medical Director at AMS Centro Médico del Ejercicio, expert in musculoskeletal ultrasound and ultrasound-guided interventional techniques. Vice-president of SETRADE and lecturer in university master's degrees.
• Carmen León: Doctor specialising in Sports Medicine, head of medical services at Real Canoe and doctor to the Spanish women's basketball team and the national rugby team. Expert in exercise physiology and collaborator with sports federations.
• Jordi Puigdellívol: Traumatologist specialising in orthopaedic and sports surgery, with experience in complex knee and shoulder injuries in professional sportsmen and women.
• Alberto González Peña: Doctor specialising in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, with training in musculoskeletal ultrasound and sports physiotherapy. Member of the RFEF and SETRADE, he works at AMS Centro Médico del Ejercicio and in national football teams.
• Cristina Lozano Domínguez: Specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at AMS Centro Médico del Ejercicio, expert in musculoskeletal ultrasound and sports physiotherapy applied to muscle injuries.
• Ferrán Abat: International reference in orthopaedic surgery and regenerative medicine applied to sport. Director of ReSport Clinic, expert in muscle and tendon injuries.
• Ricardo Casal: Traumatologist specialising in arthroscopic surgery and sports injuries, with experience in professional teams.
• Néstor Zurita Uroz: Doctor of Medicine, specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology and Master in Sports Traumatology. Head of Service at Arthrosport Alicante, expert in advanced arthroscopic surgery and doctor of the Spanish Swimming Team since 1996.
• Fernando Dávila Fernández: Graduate in Medicine (UCM), specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology. Coordinator of the Upper Limb Unit at Hospital del Bidasoa, expert in musculoskeletal ultrasound and hand and peripheral nerve surgery.
• Lluis Til Pérez: Specialist in Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics. He has been a doctor at FC Barcelona, clinical director at AS Monaco and currently at SL Benfica. Vice-president of SETRADE, expert in regenerative medicine and management of medical teams in professional football.
• Alejandro Espejo Reina: Traumatologist specialising in arthroscopic surgery and sports injuries. Trained at the Steadman Clinic (USA), member of ESSKA, ISAKOS and SETRADE. He currently works at Hospital Vithas Málaga and collaborates with handball and rugby teams.
• Diego García-Germán: Traumatologist, expert in orthopaedic surgery and sports injuries, with experience in minimally invasive techniques.
• Jesús Vilá y Rico: Doctor of Medicine, head of the Foot and Ankle Unit at Hospital Ruber Internacional and Hospital 12 de Octubre. Expert in arthroscopic surgery and member of the board of directors of national and international societies (EFAS, SECOT).

• Joel Cuesta: Sports doctor with experience in international competitions and injury prevention.
• Marta Soler González: Sports psychologist at Clínica CEMTRO, expert in coaching and emotional management in athletes.
• Inés Martín: Specialist in rehabilitation and sports medicine at the Fundación Jiménez Díaz Hospital (Quirón Salud). She participates in injury prevention programmes and physical exercise prescription for runners and active patients.
• Montse Bellver: Doctor of Medicine and specialist in Sports Medicine from the University of Barcelona. Head of the Sports Medicine Unit at the CAR of Sant Cugat, former president of the Catalan Society of Sports Medicine, with experience in doping, exercise prescription and care for Olympic athletes.
• Daniela González: Sports physiotherapist. Founder of Rehactive, specialising in orthopaedic rehabilitation and physical rehabilitation. She has worked in sports clubs, clinics and international events, including Indeportes and national competitions.
• Ángel Cotorro: Doctor of the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation and head of Rafa Nadal's medical team. A reference in sports medicine and functional recovery.

The first edition of the Master's Degree in Sports Medicine of the UAX Rafa Nadal University School has 40 limited places.
