UAX’s pre-university courses are preparatory programmes aimed at students who wish to prepare themselves before embarking on a university degree in Health Sciences.
Over the course of an academic year, you will be able to strengthen your academic foundations, gradually adapt to the pace of university study and begin to familiarise yourself with the practical aspects of your chosen degree programme.
UAX currently offers three on-campus preparatory programmes at the Villanueva de la Cañada campus: Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine.
Pre-university health courses at UAX
A pre-university course is a preparatory programme designed to ease the transition from secondary school to university.
Its aim is to enable you to begin your higher education with a more solid academic foundation, a better understanding of the pace of university-level learning, and an initial insight into the academic environment of your chosen degree programme.
In the case of Health Sciences degree programmes , these programmes allow you to gradually familiarise yourself with the subject area before starting your degree.
The Medicine Access Programme is aimed at students who wish to prepare themselves before starting the Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine at UAX.
Over the course of an academic year, you will be able to consolidate your knowledge and gradually prepare for a degree programme that requires perseverance, a capacity for study and a solid scientific foundation.
The programme includes activities at the Virtual Simulation Hospital, anatomy practicals in the dissection theatre, histology practicals in the microscopy laboratory, and attendance at talks and lectures.
The Dentistry Access Programme is aimed at students who wish to study for a Bachelor’s Degree in Dentistry at UAX and want to prepare themselves before starting the degree course.
Throughout the course, you will be able to familiarise yourself with the academic and clinical environment of the degree programme through visits to clinical simulation rooms, anatomy practicals in the dissection theatre, histology practicals in the microscopy laboratory, and attendance at talks and lectures.
The Veterinary Access Programme is designed for students who wish to begin their preparation before undertaking the Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine at UAX.
During the programme, you will be able to familiarise yourself with and start using facilities linked to the degree programme, such as the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
You will also undertake anatomy practicals in the dissection theatre, histology practicals in the microscopy laboratory, and attend talks and lectures.
Foundation programmes also help students acquire the language skills needed to function with greater confidence on their future degree course.
If your mother tongue is not Spanish, you will receive training in the language and work on the specific terminology of your chosen field. This will help you follow lectures, sit exams and communicate effectively during your future work placements.

Your choice will depend on the university degree you wish to study afterwards:
