UAX reinforces its commitment to social responsibility and ranks in the top 10 of the CYD Ranking of Sustainable Universities
We have reinforced our commitment to sustainability by ranking amongst the top institutions in Spain in the CYD Ranking of Sustainable Universities. We have reached an important milestone by being the second-best-performing private university overall and the top-ranked in terms of social commitment, which demonstrates how we integrate social and environmental considerations into our day-to-day academic and institutional activities.
The CYD Foundation’s ranking assesses dozens of institutions using a range of indicators, and we stand out for our performance in equality, women’s leadership, health promotion and the integration of sustainability into our teaching. In this way, we reaffirm our educational model, which is strongly committed to generating a constant positive impact on people, society and the environment.
In the social sphere, we stand out for the high proportion of women both in academia and in leadership roles. The results of this assessment highlight our efforts to foster equitable university environments that consistently support the development of female talent and the holistic wellbeing of the entire educational community.
Health promotion is another of our fundamental pillars, particularly through the institutional activities we organise to raise awareness and educate our students in this area. We run numerous initiatives, such as sexual health fairs organised by students on the Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, through which we create open, rigorous and much-needed spaces to address wellbeing from a fully inclusive perspective.
In the environmental sphere, we excel in incorporating sustainability content into our degree programmes and in training future professionals using the One Health approach. We promote actions that integrate human, animal and environmental health, whilst orienting our Virtual Simulation Hospital towards the concept of a ‘green hospital’ to foster efficiency and the proper management of medical waste.
We embrace our role as agents of social and environmental change through the Alfonso X el Sabio University Foundation and our Office for Volunteering and Development Cooperation. We connect our students, lecturers and staff with projects that make a positive social impact, working closely with highly prestigious organisations to transform university knowledge into tangible support.
With this recognition, we continue to move towards a model of educational excellence in which we complement academic training with a deep sense of social and environmental responsibility. We remain firmly committed to integrating sustainability into the university experience and thereby building a society that is far more equitable, inclusive and fully aware of its environment.
