The UAX Biomedical Research Unit promotes high-impact multidisciplinary research in the field of health, integrating basic, applied and clinical research to foster the transfer of scientific knowledge in the health sector.
The UAX’s main health research infrastructure is the Biomedical Research Unit (UIB), established in 2017 as a strategic research centre focused on the development of high-impact, multidisciplinary biomedical research.
The UIB forms the core of UAX’s research activity in areas of particular scientific relevance to health, such as molecular and cellular biology, neuroscience, regenerative medicine, experimental oncology, and research into chronic and translational diseases.
This approach promotes integration between basic, applied and clinical research, facilitating the effective transfer of scientific findings to the healthcare sector and contributing to the improvement of the population’s health and quality of life.
The UIB is located in the Veterinary Hospital building and has 208 m² of facilities designed in accordance with the international standards of quality, safety and biosafety required for modern biomedical research.
