We bridge the gap between university research and society to make science open, accessible and inclusive.
Welcome to the Office of Scientific Culture, an organisation dedicated to the transmission, communication and dissemination of knowledge to society. We are committed to bridging the gap between the scientific community and the general public, promoting science that is inclusive, diverse and accessible, in line with standards of social responsibility, ethics and knowledge governance.
At the Office of Scientific Culture, we take on the responsibility of coordinating public communication and the dissemination of research findings and the scientific and technological knowledge generated by our institution. In this way, we act as intermediaries and a link between the University’s research staff and the public, facilitating the transfer of knowledge to students, educators, the media and the wider community.
To fulfil our role in supporting and promoting the University, the Office is organised around two key areas of action:
Dissemination
News, projects and features designed to bring science and innovation closer to society through public engagement.
UAX and Las Loras Geopark have signed an agreement to promote the ‘Heritage Education through Ancient Landscapes’ (DiPA) project. This initiative transforms archaeological and cultural heritage into innovative educational tools to connect science and the local area with the public.
Atlas of Human Imagination: imagination is the invisible driving force behind education, the raw material of the arts, the source of all invention and the true catalyst for entrepreneurship.

Thanks to negotiations between CRUE and the CSIC with the major scientific publishers, reading rights and the option to publish in open access (Open Access) at no cost to the author have been consolidated into a single contract.
At UAX, we are committed to open science through agreements signed with four of the sector’s most prestigious publishers:
- Elsevier
- Wiley
- Springer
- Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC)
(You can check the specific terms and conditions for each publisher in the relevant sections).
How does this benefit you? As well as retaining your usual access to and reading of these journals, as a researcher at UAX you will be able to publish a set number of articles per year in a selection of their publications without having to bear the publication costs or APCs (Article Processing Charges). This benefit will be available provided that the requirements are met and the university’s annual quota has not been exhausted.
