Adapt your Engineering to Civil Engineering Degree in Civil Constructions

As a Technical Engineer in Public Works you will obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering in Civil Construction with:

  • A maximum of 60 ECTS. These will be in accordance with the conditions of the report accepted by ANECA, which follows the recommendations of the MEC (Ministry of Education, Science and Culture).
  • You will need to take at least 30 ECTS. The rest can be obtained through subjects in your syllabus or by accrediting work experience in the field.
  • The credits corresponding to the Final Degree Project cannot be recognised.

Methodology and Laboratories

What is our methodology?

  • Blended learning.
  • Timetable compatible with your professional activity.
  • At UAX we plan the sessions to leave weekends free. This facilitates online development and family compatibility.
  • Classroom schedule (10 hours per week): Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Complemented with tutorials and online classes.
  • There will be exams for evaluation and other activities to measure the evolution and development acquired with the criteria of the EHEA.

  • October to February.
  • February to June.

Faculty

  • Luis Couceiro Martínez: Director of the Higher Polytechnic School of the UAX. PhD in Civil Engineering. Degree in Environmental Sciences and Official Master's Degree in Environmental Engineering for professionals related to Civil Engineering and Industry. Consultant specialising in civil engineering and environmental engineering. He has more than 10 years of experience in academic management and has participated in several research projects in the field of roads. MWCC and Global Shappers "35 under 35" award (2021), of the most influential engineers and architects in Spain.
  • Esther Pérez Arellano: PhD in Civil Engineering from the Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio and Technical Engineer in Public Works from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. Official Master's Degree in Environmental Engineering for professionals related to Civil Engineering and Industry. Coordinator of the Civil Engineering Degree at UAX. With extensive teaching, research and university management experience, her main area of specialisation is environmental engineering. She has participated in various research projects in collaboration with the Alfonso X el Sabio University Foundation. He has experience in construction companies (Ferrovial, Edific, S.A.) and consultancy companies in the field of building and civil engineering.
  • Angel Sampedro Rodríguez: Civil Engineer from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), PhD in Construction Engineering, and Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio (UAX). Director of the Area of Engineering and Architecture at the UAX, of the PADECASA-UAX Chair and of the ROADLAB SACYR-UAX laboratory. Prof. Dr. of Road Engineering with a long career in university teaching and professional training. He has more than 20 years of international experience in consultancy, design, construction, maintenance and operation of transport and environmental infrastructures (Prointec, Collosa, Conservación de Viales, Grupo Alatec, Ancade). Active participation in national and international conferences and publications. Collaboration in a large number of research projects with universities and companies. He is a member of the Governing Board of the Madrid Demarcation of the Association of Civil Engineers, and Medal of Honour (2017) of the Spanish Road Association.
  • María De Groot Viana: PhD from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. Civil servant in the Civil Administration Management Corps of the State. She has been linked to the Geotechnical Laboratory of CEDEX. PITERM Project: Feasibility of geothermal energy in civil works.

Admission process

Admission tests:

  • Admission criteria and tests:

Number of credits of the adaptation course: 60 ECTS of which a maximum of 30 ECTS may be recognised, provided that they are duly justified in relation to what has been studied in the degree of Technical Engineer in Public Works specialising in Civil Construction.

The admission tests last approximately 1.5 hours and consist of the following:
COMPETENT TEST: TCAP©- Test of Academic and Personal Competences.
An initial competency assessment will be carried out through a battery of standardised and scientifically endorsed psycho-technical and personality tests.
Estimated duration of the Online Test: 60'.
LANGUAGE TEST:
- English test for candidates with Spanish mother tongue.
- Spanish test for candidates with a non-Spanish mother tongue.
Estimated duration of the Online Test: 30'.

  • The recognition of credits is carried out in accordance with the University's regulations.

The Degree Monitoring and Improvement Committee is made up of:

  • Head of Studies of the Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Representatives of the teaching staff of the degree: Professor responsible for External Practices, Professor who teaches in the first years of the degree, and Professor who teaches in the last years of the degree, and is also the Director of the Master's Degree Final Project.
  • Student representatives of the degree: One student enrolled in the first years, and one student enrolled in the last year of the degree.
  • Representative of the Vice-rectorate for Studies and Quality.
