Higher Online Technician in Oral Hygiene

Dual training in virtual mode:

Based on the Organic Law 3/2022 from the academic year 24-25 different significant novelties are introduced in the Vocational Training system in Spain.

• Virtual DUAL Methodology: Those students who take a distance vocational training course will concentrate the internships in a single period of 500 hours in the second year. They will be able to access them after passing 30% of the professional modules and having a favourable report from the teaching staff.

In the VET in Oral Hygiene, you will complete your online preparation with compulsory classroom work experience as part of the Workplace Training module (FCT). During this period you will be able to apply all the knowledge you have learnt in a real work situation. In addition, you will develop professional skills and learn first-hand about the processes that govern the working environment in the sector.

Our students will have the opportunity to carry out internships in top-level clinics, such as Sanitas Dental Clinics, among others, to gain professional experience and an applied knowledge of what they have learnt during their training. In addition, in our UAX Clinics, the university's own clinics, students will be able to carry out face-to-face work experience learning with real patients.

You can access this Higher Level Training Cycle if:

• You are 18 years old or you turn 18 in the year in which the training course begins.
• You are over 16 years old and you are registered as a worker, you are a high-level sportsperson or you have an illness, physical difficulty or dependence that prevents you from attending the training cycle in person.

In addition, you must have at least one of the following academic qualifications:

• Baccalaureate (LOE or LOGSE).
• Specialist Technician or Higher Vocational Training Technician Degree.
• Intermediate Vocational Training Technician's Degree
• Training Cycle or Intermediate Degree
• University Degree
• COU or Pre-university Certificate
• Document that proves that you have passed the 2nd year of any modality of the experimental Baccalaureate.
• Certificate of successful completion of the entrance exams to higher level training cycles.

To become an oral hygienist, you will study subjects such as oral health epidemiology, examination and preventive techniques, orthodontics and health education. You will also develop skills in patient care, teamwork and the use of dental technology.

The VET in Oral Hygiene lasts 2 years and is taught online, which allows you to combine your training with other activities. You will have live and recorded classes, digital resources and practical sessions on campus.

The salary of an oral hygienist varies according to experience, the public or private sector and the autonomous community in which he/she works. In addition, factors such as specialisation or the possibility of working in several clinics may influence remuneration.
