Spanish degree or homologated degree in Medicine. In addition, foreign qualifications in Medicine that are duly legalised by means of the Apostille of The Hague will be admitted.

General objective

The main objective of the Master's Degree in Aesthetic Medicine of the UAX is to provide graduates in Medicine with a comprehensive, theoretical-practical and up-to-date training that allows them to enter the field of aesthetic medicine with confidence, competence and rigour.

Overall, the programme aims to:

• Train students in the scientific, anatomical and physiological foundations of aesthetic medicine and the ageing process.
• Develop clinical and technical skills in the main medical-aesthetic treatments, guaranteeing their correct indication, execution and monitoring.
• To promote safe professional practice, based on scientific evidence and oriented towards the prevention and management of complications.
• Integrate clinical, technological, legal and management knowledge necessary for professional practice in the sector.
• To promote the acquisition of practical skills through innovative methodologies, including advanced simulation and practice with real patients.
• To prepare students for their incorporation into the labour market, providing them with management, marketing and professional development tools.

Specific objectives

At the end of the programme, the student will be able to:

• Theoretical knowledge and fundamentals.

Understand the facial and body anatomical bases relevant to aesthetic medicine, as well as the physiological processes of ageing.

Know the properties, indications and mechanisms of action of the main medical-aesthetic treatments, including botulinum toxin, dermal fillers, mesotherapy, peelings and energy-based technologies.

Identify current trends in the sector and professional opportunities in aesthetic medicine.

• Clinical and technical competencies

Correctly apply injection techniques and other aesthetic procedures safely.

Select the most appropriate treatment according to the patient's characteristics and aesthetic needs.

Design personalised treatment plans, including combined approaches (Full Face).

Handle equipment and technologies such as laser, pulsed light and radiofrequency.

Use clinical support tools such as medical photography for diagnosis, follow-up and patient communication.

• Patient safety and complication management

Recognise and prevent risks associated with aesthetic medicine treatments.

Identify and appropriately manage adverse reactions and complications derived from procedures.

Apply action protocols based on patient safety and good clinical practice.

• Legal, ethical and professional aspects

Understand the legal and regulatory framework applicable to aesthetic medicine.

Act in accordance with the ethical and deontological principles of the medical profession.

• Management, entrepreneurship and professional development

Manage and direct aesthetic medicine health centres, including organisational, financial and regulatory aspects.

Develop marketing and communication strategies, especially in digital environments and social networks.

Enhance the personal brand of the healthcare professional within the sector.

• Practical application and integration of knowledge

Integrate the knowledge acquired in real clinical environments through supervised rotations.

Develop clinical skills with real patients, acquiring progressive autonomy.

Produce a Master's Thesis that demonstrates the capacity for analysis, synthesis and application of the knowledge acquired.

TEACHING STAFF

Address

Dr. Ruiz has a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Oviedo. Specialist in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery with a Master's degree in Aesthetic and Anti-Aging Medicine from the Complutense University of Madrid and a Master's degree in Management and Direction of Health Centres from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. She is in charge of the Reconstructive Surgery team at the University Hospital of Cabueñes and a specialist in facial and body Aesthetic Medicine in different clinics with extensive experience in facial and body hyaluronic acid fillers, toxins and tensor threads, among others. She collaborates with different industry laboratories as an international trainer and opinion leader and is a member of several scientific societies SECPRE, AECEP & SOCIPER.

Coordination

Teresa Galera holds a degree in Biology from the University of Granada and a PhD in Biomedicine from the Autonomous University of Madrid. Her doctoral thesis focuses on the development of induced pluripotent stem cells for disease modelling. Author of more than 10 research articles in prestigious international journals. She holds an executive MBA from the prestigious IE Business School. Since 2021 she has been a mentor at ESAME in the Advanced Therapies MBA. Throughout her professional career she has held various positions in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry, both in the medical department and in clinical operations, leading multidisciplinary teams and managing strategic projects.

Course lecturers:

• Dr. Arenas holds a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Autonomous University of Madrid. Specialist in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. Head of Section of the Plastic Surgery Service of the Central Hospital of the Red Cross (Madrid). Honorary Professor at the Autonomous University of Madrid. Collaborating Professor at the Alfonso X el Sabio University. Lecturer in several Masters in Aesthetic Medicine and Dermatology in Spain. Areas of expertise: facial rejuvenation with and without surgery. Facial harmonisation. Regenerative medicine.

• Dr. de Oliveira has a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Complutense University of Madrid and has several specialisation courses in Aesthetic Medicine including training in mesotherapy, hair transplantation, liposuction, nutrition and genital aesthetic medicine among other areas of knowledge. Since 2000 she has worked as an aesthetic doctor in several aesthetic medicine clinics, occupying the position of medical director in some of them. Since 2006 she has been collaborating with different laboratories in the industry as a speaker and her areas of specialisation include the use of botulinum toxin, facial fillers, facial and body tightening threads, mesotherapy, laser and pulsed light among others.

• Dr. Manzano Surroca has a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Barcelona and is a specialist in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. She has several training courses on anti-ageing, regenerative biology, use of imaging techniques and business management. Throughout his professional career he has actively collaborated with the industry by teaching in numerous courses and seminars. She is a founding member of SETGRA (Spanish Society of Fat Transplantation) and a member of numerous scientific societies such as SECPRE, ISAPS, ASPS, AECEP, WOPRASS.

• Dr. Guisantes has a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Barcelona. Specialist in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. She is currently the Medical Director of the Mandri Clinic in Barcelona and an assistant doctor at the Hospital de Terrassa. She combines her professional activity with teaching, collaborating with the University of Barcelona and the College of Physicians of Barcelona. He is a founding member of two scientific societies SETGRA and WOPRASS, vice-president of SEGERF and member of the board of directors of SCCPRE, as well as member of SECPRE, SEME and ICOPLAST.

• Dr. Vilà holds a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Barcelona and has several postgraduate degrees in Aesthetic and Anti-Aging Medicine. She is a member of several associations such as SETGRA and the Collegiate Section of Aesthetic Medicine among others. Throughout her professional career she has held positions of responsibility such as medical director and unit manager. She is currently the founder and medical director of Regenera Clínic in Barcelona.

• Dr. Miranda López has a degree in Medicine from the University of Valladolid. Specialist in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery with a master's degree in Aesthetic and Anti-Aging Medicine from the Complutense University of Madrid. He is a Reconstructive Surgeon at the Red Cross Hospital in Gijón and Medical Director of the Jovellanos Clinic where he works as a specialist in Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery and a specialist in Aesthetic Medicine for face and body in different clinics, having a wide experience in facial and body hyaluronic acid fillers, toxins, laser and deep peelings, among others. He is a member of several scientific societies SECPRE & SOCIPER.

• Dr. Daniel S. Salvador has a degree in Medicine from the University of Salamanca. Specialist in Family and Community Medicine and Emergency Medicine with a Master's Degree in Advanced Aesthetic Medicine, Anti-Aging and Laser Techniques from the Cardenal CEU Herrera University in Valencia. Professional in aesthetic medicine for more than 12 years, and medical director and owner of Clínica Médico-Estética Maysoon for 10 years, with extensive experience in facial and body hyaluronic acid fillers, toxins, tensor threads, among others. He collaborates with different laboratories in the industry as a national trainer and opinion leader, lecturer in other masters of the speciality and is a member of SEME and the collegiate section of Aesthetic Medicine of the COMV.

• Dr. Martínez Padilla has a degree in Aesthetic and Reconstructive Plastic Surgery from the University of Cordoba. During her MIR residency at the Virgen del Rocío University Hospital in Seville, she perfected her knowledge of aesthetic-plastic surgery through stays in centres of recognised prestige. Plastic surgeon in the plastic surgery department of the Reina Sofía Hospital in Cordoba. National Award of the Spanish Society of Senology and Breast Pathology (SESPM), in 2014 she founded Aurea Clinic, Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Clinic in Seville, with the firm idea of offering something different to patients, a new concept of plastic surgery, where harmony and naturalness are the pillars of beauty. Currently in private practice, the doctor directs a team of plastic surgeons who work in her own facilities equipped with an operating theatre authorised for Major Outpatient Surgery, attached to her Rapid Recovery Unit, a pioneer in Andalusia. He is a member of several scientific societies such as AECEP, SECPRE, ISAPS and RHINOPLASTY SOCIETY OF EUROPE.

• Dr. Gómez Bravo has a degree in Medicine from the University of Navarra and is a specialist in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. He holds a PhD from the University of Alcalá and an Executive MBA from the IESE Business School. He has worked as a plastic surgeon in various prestigious international institutions such as Harvard Medical School (Boston, USA) and Clínica Cirumed (Marbella, Spain). He currently combines his private practice in Madrid with a position as a plastic surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates).

• Dr. Cabañas Weisz has a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of the Basque Country with an extraordinary prize in her promotion. She specialised in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at Cruces Hospital and specialised in facial reconstructive surgery, having completed training stays at international centres. She has extensive experience in facial treatments with toxin, hyaluronic acid, hybrids... She currently works as a plastic surgeon and tutors residents at the Marqués de Valdecilla Hospital (Santander) and at the private clinic Cirugía Plástica Bilbao. She holds the European EBOPRAS qualification and is a member of several scientific societies BAPRAS, SECPRE, AEM & SVNRA.
